Adele scored one of the highest US TV performances of the year, delivering a killer mashup of her biggest hits at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night and sat down with host Alan Carr on “Alan Carr: Chatty Man” for a poignant chat about her life in music and being a single mom.
Carr asked her why she doesn’t go out on dates: “You don’t get upset when you get drunk?”
“It’s not my thing,” she replied, referring to her routine of head-bang and then head-bobbing again. “Music’s my thing. It’s not fun for me. You do get yourself a situation, but it’s hard to get yourself out of. I just do it with my children, they don’t look at me funny when I do it.”
After Carr asked Adele if they got on, and she said he was a funny guy, the British superstar said “I just do it off camera,” adding, “I just don’t think it’s right.”
The pair had previously appeared together on the British “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and there is a long history of pop stars on the popular late-night show and Carr’s much loved chatshow, so it’s a far cry from British tarts.
After Carr confessed he was afraid of her because he thought he would be rejected, she said she’d heard that. “I’ve heard that before. I think they’re worried about me!” she added.
