Alexander Radwanska’s son might play at US Open in 2021

The son of world number 20 Alexander Radwanska is considering playing at the 2021 US Open in New York, his agent said on Wednesday.

Medvedev missed out on qualifying in Miami this week, saying he wanted to spend time with his girlfriend before getting ready for the Australian Open, starting on 17 January.

“He’s still thinking about it,” World Sports Group’s Sergey Litov told reporters. “He’s still definitely thinking about that but he was sad to miss out on qualifying this week.

“Obviously after this year he would want to go to New York,” said Litov, who put Radwanska on the ATP World Tour when he was a teenager.

“He has a young family that is happy,” he added. “He would be very happy to play in the US Open, as it’s the main tour in the world.”

Medvedev, who has represented WSR since 2011, came to the fore in 2015 when he reached the fourth round of the Australian Open after turning pro.

He hit a career-high ranking of 44 in the world in April 2016 but was out of the top 200 in October last year.
