Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears are cousins. I’m hearing that.
Britney Spears has issued a statement about her mother, Lynne Spears, in a Los Angeles Times story detailing how a judge and two attorneys are trying to force Lynne out of Britney’s business affairs.
“Although I have not spoken to my mother in 10 years,” Britney Spears told the Los Angeles Times, “after reading her recent statements in the press, I must ask her to stop attacking my father and me. My mother has locked herself away, and it is very sad.”
Britney Spears, of course, has been in a messy legal fight with her former manager, Sam Lutfi, who she said in the lawsuit tried to ruin her personal and professional life and who she also said acted unethically toward her by allegedly giving her an illegal drug and then not telling her about her pregnancy. The CEO of Spears’ company, RCA, was also accused of sexual harassment and harassment, and a protective order was obtained against his wife.
Lynne Spears has not been named in any of the lawsuits or restraining orders, and many people have been surprised and saddened by the fact that she didn’t speak up about this.
In a new lawsuit, Lynne Spears accused Sam Lutfi of injecting her with drugs to “extort money and damaged her personal and professional reputation.” The lawsuit also alleged that her former husband of 16 years, Jamie Spears, had become “egregious” in the “widespread mistreatment” of Britney Spears.
There have been ugly reports about his treatment of Britney Spears and allegations of custody agreements having their side-effects, but Britney Spears — who recently lost custody of her two sons to her ex-husband over concerns that she’s “unstable and suffers from mental health issues” — told the Times that she was not aware of her mother’s recent court documents when she issued the statement.
“I cannot comment on my mother’s custody decisions, since that is in the hands of the court,” she said. “But I would like everyone to know that I continue to support and love my mother unconditionally.”
