Paul Rudd is one of Hollywood’s youngest actors. But he says his secret to staying looking young is really rather simple.

“Lose weight. Because I don’t need to be fat,” the 49-year-old said.

He uses a regular 30-day weight-loss plan to keep his frame trim, without losing a lot of muscle.

“I might be using protein shakes, but it doesn’t matter. All that matters is that I lose weight and keep it off,” he added.

A regular fixture on the Hollywood party circuit, Rudd said he never felt he had to hide his “slacker” lifestyle, instead he “thought it was the most natural thing in the world”.

He thinks that through trying new things as a youth he embraced a “diverse” background, which he believes led to longevity as an actor.

“I’m from the Midwest and I had a non-traditional upbringing,” he explained.

“My wife is Korean, my kids are mixed. It was incredibly multicultural growing up, and I grew up with friends from all over. I met people who were doing different things.

“I think all that hard work pays off.”
