Willie Nelson and Family: Merry Christmas From the Williams Family
Willie Nelson and family have tapped into the music of the holiday season in their latest holiday album, Merry Christmas From the Williams Family.
Singer Merle Haggard and others also team up with Nelson and family on the holiday record, which will be released on Nov. 16. The group of nine musicians cover songs including “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “This Christmas” and “Suspicious Minds.”
Nelson says the album is “inspired by our love of the season.”
The 74-year-old singer released his initial holiday album, Willie Nelson Christmas, in 2016.
Willie Nelson plans to release his 25th studio album, “Willie Won’t Get Far on Foot,” next year.
He’ll start promoting the album with the first single, “God Don’t Make no Trucks,” on Monday at the Nashville Supershow. His biopic, “Willie Won’t Get Far on Foot,” is based on a novel by Jack Kerouac, who inspired the poem Nelson wrote for the film.
The 40-track album will be a “tribute to sorts” to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Nelson’s label says.
Besides Nelson, the album features guest vocalists Kacey Musgraves, Vince Gill, Keb Mo, Russell Moore, Doc Watson, Kebbi Moore, Alison Krauss, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Nathan East, Nikki Lane and Margo Price.
